Melbourne Victory secures finals series spot
Melbourne Victory defeated Newcastle Jets 4-0 to guarantee the Victory a place in the W-League finals series. Lisa De Vanna played a prominent part in 3 of Melbourne’s 4 goals. Christine Nairn also played for the Victory, and Katherine Reynolds, Angela Salem, and Tori Huster all played for the Jets. The Jets still have an opportunity to qualify for the finals series but must beat Adelaide United next weekend. The Victory will be traveling to Japan this week for the International Women’s Club Championships. Game Recap.

Mex WNT
Veronica Perez and the Mex WNT have advanced to the semifinals of the Central American and Caribbean Games by tying Colombia 1-1, defeating Trinidad & Tobago 6-0, and defeating Haiti 1-0. Veronica Perez has played all minutes so far. The Mexican team will play the Costa Rican team in the semis.
Eng WNT
The Eng WNT faced the Ger WNT at Wembley Stadium in front of 45, 619 fans. This was the women’s team’s first match at the stadium since it re-opened seven years ago. The Germans won 3-0. Jodie Taylor came on for England in the 80th minute. Match Statistics. Full story.

Robyn Gayle was one of 24 players named to the list of players in contention to play in Canada’s two closed door friendlies against Sweden this week. The matches will take place on Monday and Wednesday in California. Full report.
