Collaboration to continue throughout the year as Spirit hosts all home games at Audi Field.
Washington, D.C. (02/02/2023) – Today, the Washington Spirit announces ObviouslyDC.com as its 2023 preseason training kit partner. An online resource hosted by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), ObviouslyDC.com provides information and resources on starting and growing a business in the nation’s capital. The club begins wearing the ObviouslyDC.com training kits today during training camp in Florida. Throughout the year, the Spirit and the District of Columbia will partner to promote the city as an inclusive, culturally rich and livable community.
“Audi Field is our new home, and it is important for us as a club to demonstrate the strength of our relationship with the District of Columbia,” said Spirit Owner Michele Kang. “This new partnership aligns with the club’s focus on serving as a proud representative of our nation’s capital and deepens its support for and involvement in the greater Washington, D.C. community.”
“ObviouslyDC.com showcases our city as a place for businesses of all sizes to grow and thrive,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “Our vibrant sports, entertainment, and cultural landscape – of which the Spirit is a growing part – is one of many reasons why our city is an obvious place to live, work, and play. We’ll see you at Audi Field in 2023.”
The ObviouslyDC.com website outlines key topic areas that are important for business growth alongside strengths of Washington, D.C. that underscore commercial viability. Users can also learn about the various resources and programs that support their business goals, as well as connect with key stakeholders that encourage job creation and growth in Washington, D.C. The website also provides a concierge service that helps users navigate the process of becoming a business in the District.
“People live in Washington, D.C. because they want to change the world. We’re a city full of innovators, trailblazers, risk takers, collaborators, and champions,” said Deputy Mayor John Falcicchio. “The Washington Spirit embody that, and we couldn’t be more proud to have ObviouslyDC.com emblazoned on their jerseys to encourage all Washingtonians to embrace that spirit and endure for their fair shot.”
Under Kang’s leadership, the Spirit provided space on its 10th anniversary kits in 2022 to the Kennedy Center. Sport youth-development nonprofit, DC Scores, was featured on the Challenge Cup kits in the same year. Providing kit space to community partners upholds the value of the kit while showcasing worthy organizations in the community that the Spirit is proud to partner with.
In 2023, the Washington Spirit will play all home games at Audi Field, a first for the organization. Fans can secure a season ticket membership here to ensure they never miss a home match. A full season schedule will be announced later this month, following which single game tickets will go on sale. The 2023 schedule footprint is available now. Under head coach, Mark Parsons, the club seeks to return to its 2021 season championship form behind U.S. Women’s National Team standouts, league-leading talent and exciting new draft signees.
