Boyds, MD (September 6, 2018) – Eight Washington Spirit players represented their respective national teams in international play during a highly successful September 2018 FIFA window.
Forward Mallory Pugh netted her 12th career goal and 13th assist for the senior U.S. Women’s National Team during a two-game sweep of Chile in a pair of late summer friendlies. Midfielder Rose Lavelle also started both matches for the USA as their high-powered attack outscored World Cup-bound Chile 7-0 over the two games.
Spirit forward/defender Mallory Eubanks, forward Ashley Hatch and midfielder Andi Sullivan helped lead the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team to the 2018 Nordic Tournament title in Norway. With Sullivan captaining the team and Eubanks playing on the back line, the USA did not allow a single goal over the course of the three games, earning two wins and a draw. The USA opened the event with a 2-0 win over Sweden, followed by a 0-0 draw against England, before clinching the title with a 1-0 shutout of host Norway.

Defender Rebecca Quinn helped Canada secure a hard fought 1-0 win in a defensive battle against a talented Brazil side on Sunday afternoon at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. Quinn came off the bench in the 71st minute to protect Canada’s lead the rest of the way.
Goalkeeper DiDi Haracic had the opportunity to suit up for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and earned a spot in the starting lineup for a friendly against Russia on September 4, which resulted in a 3-0 defeat.
Midfielder Estefanía Banini was called into camp with Argentina, and saw her team earn a 1-1 draw against Puerto Rico in a friendly on Sept. 3.
