Boyds, MD (April 2, 2018) – Washington Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe and forward Mallory Pugh earned NWSL Save of the Week and NWSL Goal of the Week nominations for Week 2 of the 2018 season.
Bledsoe’s leaping stop on a shot taken by Orlando Pride forward Sydney Leroux in the 14th minute garnered her a Save of the Week nomination for a second straight week. The save was one of four made by Bledsoe in the 2-0 win for the Spirit over the Pride, as the 26-year-old recorded her first clean sheet with the club in her home debut.
Pugh’s first goal of the 2018 NWSL season came in a clutch moment for Washington, as the 19-year-old nutmegged Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris with a low shot to finish off a run through the left side of the box. The 80th minute strike proved to be the game-winner.
