Seventh-year player set to remain with Spirit through at least 2024 season
Washington, D.C. (06/20/2023) – The Washington Spirit has exercised the 2024 option on forward Ashley Hatch’s current contract, the club announced today. Hatch joined the Spirit prior to the 2018 season after spending her first professional season with North Carolina.
“Keeping Hatch with the Spirit is very important to the success of the club moving forward,” said Head Coach Mark Parsons. “She is one of the best and most experienced goal scorers in this league who is also an exceptional teammate.”
Hatch has started every regular season match for the Spirit in 2023, totaling six goals, two assists and 943 minutes out of a possible 1,080 across the first 12 matches of this year’s campaign. Across all players this season, Hatch is tied for third in goals and tied for ninth in assists in the NWSL. Appearing in 118 regular season matches across her career, Hatch has tallied 43 goals, six assists and 9,203 minutes of playing time. At the international level, Hatch has made 19 appearances for the U.S. Women’s National Team, scoring five goals and adding one assist.
Originally from Gilbert, Arizona, Hatch attended Brigham Young University from 2013 through 2016, totaling 47 goals and 21 assists in 75 matches played for the Cougars. During her four seasons in Provo, Hatch twice earned First Team All-WCC honors and was named a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy following her senior campaign.
