Boyds, MD., (2/6/20) – Washington Spirit midfielders Rose Lavelle and Andi Sullivan will face off against Mexico with the United States Women’s National Team in their semi-final bout in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers. 

The US finished on top of Group A after a perfect group stage performance in which they conceded zero goals and scored 18. As a result of their top-seed finish, the US will play the second-seeded team from Group B, Mexico, tomorrow at 10 pm ET (FS1, TUDN). 

Lavelle started in two out of the three group stage matches for the USWNT, making her appearances against Panama and Haiti. The crafty midfielder grabbed a goal against Panama in the US’ big 8-0 win that confirmed their place in the semi-final, the 11th goal of her international career. Lavelle is expected to make her 41st career appearance for the US tomorrow against Mexico. 

 

Sullivan made her first-ever Olympic Qualifying appearance against Panama, the 16th international appearance of her career. Sullivan completed a near-perfect 36 of her 37 attempted passes and also earned two interceptions during her 90 minutes of play. 

Mexico won two of their three qualifying matches, finishing with six points and a goal difference of +5. La Tigres’ biggest win of the group stages came against St. Kitts and Nevis in which they won 6-0. Mexico’s leading goalscorer during the group stages, Renae Cuellar, has netted three in three games.
