BALTIMORE (1/16/20) – The Washington Spirit have drafted Kaiya McCullough with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft.
The defender from UCLA named Second-team All-Pac-12 and was selected to Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week three times (Oct. 29, Nov. 25, Dec. 3) during her senior campaign. The Center-back led UCLA to 13 shutouts and a 0.83 goals-against average.
McCullough started all but one game during her college career and finished 76 consecutive games started for the Bruins. Her 92 career starts rank tied for fifth in UCLA history.
McCullough was the Spirit’s fifth pick of the day after selecting Ashley Sanchez (4), Natalie Jacobs (13), Averie Collins (17) and Katie McClure (23).
