Boyds, Md., (10/1/19) – The Washington Spirit hosted the Virginia-D.C. Hall of Fame at the club’s final home game of 2019 last Saturday. The members of the Hall of Fame were treated to a fantastic night of soccer as the Spirit bested the champion North Carolina Courage 2-1 after a late comeback.
The Hall of Fame members received a complimentary pre-game meal and had their own VIP reserved seating section located behind section 110 at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The VIP area was fully catered by long-time Spirit vendor Famous Daves BBQ and paid for by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA).
Additionally, members of the Hall of Fame were presented with a gift from the Spirit as well as the VYSA and honored at halftime with a photo on the field and an announcement on the video board. Post-game, the Hall of Fame members in attendance were featured on the video board and thanked for their work pioneering and influencing the growth of soccer in the Virginia-D.C. area.
Spirit head coach Richie Burke and Spirit majority owner Steve Baldwin also made speeches recognizing the Hall of Fame member’s crucial work developing the area’s soccer profile post-game.
