Washington, DC – August 25, 2018: The Portland Thorns defeated the Washington Spirit 1-0 during a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match at Audi Field.

The Washington Spirit are set to break records at their second-ever game at Audi Field on Saturday, August 24 as they take on the Orlando Pride.

With over 16,500 projected in attendance, the Washington Spirit are on track to more than double their previous attendance record of 7,976 set during last season’s match at Audi Field on August 25.

The first 5,000 fans will receive an Audi Field poster presented by Enlightenment Capital that features United States Women’s National Team stars Rose Lavelle and Mallory Pugh and also team captain Andi Sullivan. DC-themed Washington Spirit rally-towels presented by Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will also be passed out at the game.

In a press conference last season, Pugh spoke about how playing in at Audi Field ups morale and increases visibility for women’s soccer: “It’s a beautiful stadium and beautiful facilities, so being able to play a game here is amazing.”

The Saturday forecast is calling for a sunny day as Washington looks to even the season series with Orlando after their eventful July 6 meeting which produced seven goals on the day. [TICKETS]
