Boyds, Md. (5/23/19) – The Washington Spirit has announced that the club is signing forward Crystal Thomas. Thomas will wear number 31 for the Spirit this season. Per club and league policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Thomas, who was originally signed by the Spirit in 2017, is re-joining the club after a stint with Valur in Iceland. The Georgetown University grad was waived by the Spirit in 2017 after making one substitute appearance against the Houston Dash in which she attempted two shots.
In addition to her time in Iceland with Valur and her time with the Spirit, Thomas also played for Norwegian side Medkila Il, who play in the Toppserien, the premier tier of Norwegian soccer.
Thomas had an impressive two years at Georgetown, being named to the All-Big East Second Team and All-Northeast Region First Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
During her Junior season with the Hoyas, Thomas finished fourth on the team in scoring with 11 goals and one assist, including the game-winning goal in Georgetown’s 1-0 NCAA Quarterfinal win over Santa Clara. In two years at Georgetown after transferring from Notre Dame, she scored a total of 46 points.
