Boyds, MD (April 8, 2018) – During the U.S. Women’s National Team’s 4-1 and 6-2 routs of Mexico over the past week, Washington Spirit forward Mallory Pugh netted the 10th and 11th international goals of her young career.

After scoring an 80th minute game-winner on Saturday, March 31 in Washington’s home opener against the Orlando Pride, Pugh continued her scoring streak with first half strikes in both of the USA’s victories over Mexico in international friendlies on April 5 and April 8.

The 19-year-old opened the scoring for the USA in Thursday’s 4-1 victory in Jacksonville, Florida in just the sixth minute, striking from close range despite facing heavy traffic in the box. [WATCH]

Pugh struck even earlier during Sunday’s 6-2 rout in Houston, Texas, making a run up the right side and cutting across the box toward the left post, beating the charging goalkeeper and finishing into an empty net. It was Pugh’s fifth goal of 2018, which is tied with Alex Morgan for the most on the team so far this year. [WATCH]

Pugh earned her 35th cap and 27th career start on Sunday, and is second all-time in starts before the age of 20 behind only Tiffany Roberts (41). Pugh now has 11 career goals and is tied in third with Christie Welsh for goals before the age of 20 behind Cindy Parlow-15 and Mia Hamm-14.
