Mallory Pugh named to USWNT roster for friendlies vs Korea Republic

Boyds, MD (October 11, 2017) – Washington Spirit forward Mallory Pugh has been named to Jill Ellis‘ 22-player U.S. Women’s National Team roster for a pair of friendlies against Korea Republic coming up later this month.

The games will take place Oct. 19 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans (8 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1) and on Oct. 22 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. (2 p.m. ET on ESPN). Ellis will name 18 players to suit up for each of the two matches.

Pugh enters the friendlies with 28 career international caps and six goals. She is one of nine players on the U.S. roster currently in the running as a finalist for an NWSL year-end award. Pugh, U.S. international goalkeeper Jane Campbell of the Houston Dash and North Carolina Courage forward Ashley Hatch are the three finalists for 2017 NWSL Rookie of the Year.

Pugh led Washington with six goals during her breakout rookie season, earning her the team’s Golden Boot Award, in addition to being voted the Spirit’s Most Valuable Player. [+Read More]
