Washington, D.C. (08/25/2026) — The Washington Spirit announced today the promotion of Ruba Minhas to Chief Financial Officer. In her new role, Minhas will serve as the club’s senior financial executive and be responsible for shaping and executing the overall financial strategy, vision, and direction of the club.

Minhas previously served as Spirit’s Vice President of Finance, a role in which she helped the business grow into one of the NWSL’s premier teams through a transformation of the financial systems and processes and a fiscal discipline that creates the environment for success.

“Ruba has been instrumental in building the financial foundation that powers our team’s success,” said Chief Executive Officer Kim Stone. “As we continue to grow, both on the field and as a business, she is the strategic leader we need to continue setting the standard in the NWSL.”

As Chief Financial Officer, Minhas will lead financial strategy and planning, capital projects, transactional finance and accounting, capital allocation, and commercial financial support across the organization. She will provide financial insights and strategic recommendations directly to Stone and senior leadership to guide business decisions and support long-term, sustainable growth. Minhas will continue to oversee the club’s entire finance team.

“I’m honored to take on this role and build on what we’ve established over the last several years,” said Minhas. “Working with the Washington Spirit and Kynisca has been a capstone to my 20+ years in sports and entertainment, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished bringing Michele Kang’s vision to life. We’re at an incredible moment of growth, and I’m thankful to Michele, Kim Stone, and the many mentors who’ve believed in me. We stand on the shoulders of giants, and I’m grateful for the trust to keep writing this story.”

Before joining the Washington Spirit, Minhas spent more than a decade in senior finance roles across the sports and entertainment industry, including as Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis at UBS Arena and in finance leadership positions at The Madison Square Garden Company and Broadridge Financial Solutions.
