Hatch returns to active roster, will be available for tomorrow’s match
Washington, D.C. (08/07/2026) – The Washington Spirit has activated forward Ashley Hatch from maternity leave, the club announced today. Returning to the active roster, Hatch will be available this weekend for the first time since May 2025 after welcoming her son Leo earlier this year.
Hatch has scored 59 goals across her regular season career, good for fifth-most in NWSL history. The star forward is the Spirit’s all-time regular season goals leader as well, having tallied 52 since joining the club prior to the 2018 season. Hatch becomes the second Spirit player to return from maternity leave this season. Midfielder Andi Sullivan made her return to action in March after welcoming her daughter Millie last summer.
One of the most decorated players in club history, Hatch earned the 2021 NWSL Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer and helped lead the Spirit to its first NWSL Championship win in club history that same season. The Gilbert, Arizona native is also a two-time annual NWSL Best XI honoree with a first team nod in 2021 and second team nod in 2023.
The Spirit will next take the pitch at Audi Field on Saturday, August 8 when it takes on the North Carolina Courage. Kicking off at 6:30 p.m. EDT, the match’s theme will be Spirit Worldwide: Culture Night. Tickets are available at WashingtonSpirit.com/tickets.
