Washington, D.C. (07/30/2026) — The Washington Spirit today announced a new multi-year partnership with Children’s National, naming the region’s pediatric health system as a Pediatric Partner in a collaboration focused on advancing children’s health, strengthening community connections and inspiring the next generation through the power of women’s soccer.
The partnership reflects both organizations’ shared commitment to supporting children and families across the DC region while elevating women’s sports and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. Throughout the partnership, the Washington Spirit and Children’s National will collaborate on community initiatives, patient experiences, player hospital visits and family-focused events that create meaningful connections beyond the soccer field.
“Our community is incredibly important to us, so partnering with an organization that has been there for so many kids and families in the DMV is a fantastic opportunity,” said Washington Spirit CEO Kim Stone. “Children’s National is the perfect partner to help us turn our platform into real impact for the next generation, exactly the kind of relationship our organization wants to build.”
The partnership officially kicks off this Sunday, August 2, when Children’s National will serve as a Supporting Partner of the Spirit’s Cancer Awareness Day match against San Diego Wave FC at Audi Field. The match will welcome Children’s National patients, families and pediatric cancer survivors for a special day of celebration and recognition. As part of the matchday experience, one Children’s National cancer patient will serve as the game’s honorary ambassador, participating in the pregame ceremony, walking onto the field with the Washington Spirit during player introductions and ringing the bell at halftime.
“It’s exciting to be a Proud Pediatric Partner of the Washington Spirit. This collaboration brings together our shared dedication to helping children thrive, supporting families and creating stronger, healthier communities,” said Michelle Riley-Brown, MHA, FACHE, President and CEO, Children’s National. “By combining the reach and inspiration of women’s sports with our mission to advance pediatric health, we have an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people throughout our region.”
During the season, Children’s National will execute a strategic marketing campaign, leveraging in-stadium branding and digital signage at Audi Field, game day experiences, community initiatives and special player visits – all focused on enhancing children’s health and well-being.
