Dear Spirit Investors,
What a remarkable year this has been for our Spirit. Our achievements, both on and off the pitch, have set new benchmarks for excellence in the NWSL – a powerful testament to Michele’s vision. I’m writing to share my profound appreciation for the journey we’ve undertaken together and for your support.
On the field, Jona Giraldez and the team delivered historic performances, breaking club and NWSL records, showcasing the exceptionally talented players we’ve assembled. Our thrilling playoff run, culminating in an unforgettable semifinal victory over Gotham FC, demonstrated the resilience and skill of this squad. Off the field, our business operations have undergone a complete transformation, resulting in unprecedented growth across all key metrics.
The playoff games demonstrated the strength of our community connection. We witnessed extraordinary support from our fanbase, selling out two consecutive 19,000-capacity games at Audi Field. The speed at which the second game sold out – within just 72 hours – speaks volumes about the connection we’ve built with our fans in the DMV and the excitement surrounding this team.
None of this would have been possible without Michele’s clear vision and unwavering commitment to excellence. When she brought me aboard, her mandate was unequivocal: build the business operations into a high-performing organization. Looking at where we stand today, it’s clear that her strategic direction has been validated and I’m grateful for her support.
The professional infrastructure we’ve built, the culture we’ve created, and the results we’ve achieved are testament to Michele’s leadership and your investment in making the Spirit a premier sports organization. Our success this season validates our approach to building a sustainable, world-class franchise.
Yet what we’ve accomplished this year isn’t our ceiling – it’s our new floor. We’re building something truly special here in Washington, with our sights set on becoming the NWSL’s dynasty franchise. Like the New York Yankees in baseball or the Golden State Warriors in basketball, we aim to set the standard for excellence in women’s soccer.
It has been particularly gratifying to spend time with many of you throughout this remarkable season, and I look forward to more opportunities to connect in the near future. Thank you for your continued trust and support in this journey. While we celebrate our current success, know that our ambition drives us toward even greater achievements ahead.
