Rodman, Krueger and Croix Bethune will all bring gold medals home to DC, celebrate at Audi Field during inaugural Spirit International Friendlies
Washington, D.C. (08/10/2024) – Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman, defender Casey Krueger and midfielder Croix Bethune will bring gold medals home to DC after helping the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) to an Olympic championship. Spirit midfielder Hal Hershfelt served as an alternate for the team in France as well.
Both appearing in their sixth straight match this tournament, Rodman and Krueger helped the USWNT take down Brazil, 1-0. This Olympics, Rodman netted three goals and tallied one assist, providing a goal contribution in each of her first four times out, including the USWNT’s match-winner in the tournament quarterfinal against Japan. Rodman and Krueger now have 46 and 56 caps, respectively, for the senior team.
Rodman, the 22-year-old standout, has lit up the pitch for both club and country in 2024, thrilling fans with her speed down the sideline and electric presence on the field. In 15 matches with the Spirit so far this season, Rodman has tallied five goals and four assists. Krueger, the high-profile veteran, has led the Spirit back line to several lock-down performances this season, including four shutouts. The forward and defender will make their much-anticipated returns to Audi Field later this month when the Spirit hosts the inaugural Spirit International Friendlies, with world-renowned English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea coming to town.
Beginning next weekend, the Spirit will return to action in the inaugural Spirit International Friendlies, hosting legendary English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea at Audi Field. The Spirit will take on Arsenal on Sunday, August 18 before a historic doubleheader the following week. On Sunday, August 25, the Spirit will return to regular season play and face Kansas City Current at noon EDT with a chance to jump into second place in the league before Arsenal and Chelsea square off in the English rivals’ first-ever matchup in the United States.
