Matchday features include new merchandise from recycled materials, increased vegan-friendly concessions options, a “living” classroom, and more. 

Washington, D.C. (04/21/2023) – The Washington Spirit will celebrate Earth Day throughout its home match against the Houston Dash this weekend with a variety of community partners and environmentally friendly matchday features. 

 

Fans can learn more about the Spirit’s community partners in sustainability on the Audi Field concourse on Saturday night. Among them are the Washington, D.C. Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE), Anacostia Riverkeeper, Washington Area Bicyclist Association, Casey Trees and more. Founding member of Friends of Anacostia Park, Akiima Price, will also be in attendance Saturday night for the honorary coin toss before kickoff. 

 

Fans can visit the Community Corner to learn more about these environmentally-focused organizations who will be providing promotional giveaways. Accompanying the DOEE will be Ana the Shad, the organization’s official mascot. Following the game, fans will be provided seedlings courtesy of the DOEE.  

 

Main Concourse 

At the Gate A stage, fans can enjoy music from DJ Fili as well as performances from Alchemy Performing Arts throughout the concourse. Spiritville on the East Concourse returns with multiple photo opportunities and a featured merchandise item of the match that can be customized at an exclusive silk-screening station. The kids zone, where the youngest fans can safely play on a soft play area or enjoy foosball, temporary tattoos, kick zone, a chalkboard mural and more, will be expanded for this match. Additionally, fans can play as their favorite Spirit players at a FIFA Lounge, take part in shuffleboard, or enjoy Earth Day activations like a “living” classroom.  

 

Guest Services 

For the first time at Audi Field, the Washington Spirit, in partnership with DC United, recently introduced a Mamava nursing pod for parents on the East Concourse. The private, sanitary space provides comfortable seating and power outlets for pumping equipment. Keyless entry and vacancy alerts are available by downloading the Mamava app

 

New this season, fans are able to communicate with Audi Field officials via text with any questions, concerns or emergencies at the following number: 202-918-3838. All ticketed fans will also receive a post-match survey following each game to allow the club to offer continual improvements on the matchday experience. 

 

Parking 

Additional parking will be made available for guests at the GEICO Parking Garage on 1500 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, D.C, 20003. The garage will open at 5:00 p.m. and will close approximately one hour after the event. There will be 600 spaces to be utilized on a first come, first serve basis and will cost guests $50. No tailgating will be allowed.

A special no-fee offer from the club is still available while expanded premium seating brings fans pitch side for an unparalleled experience.
