Leesburg, VA., (05/23/2021) – The Washington Spirit announced a venue change for the club’s match vs. the Houston Dash on May 26. Originally scheduled for Segra Field, the match will now take place at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, TX.
The NWSL alerted the club that Segra Field was not compliant with league regulations. Once the decision was made, the Spirit requested permission from DC United to play at Audi Field. That request was denied. Due to this decision, the game was moved to the Dash’s home venue.
“We are very disappointed in this outcome and hope that the construction at Segra Field will be completed before our next match scheduled for the venue,” said Spirit Managing Partner Steve Baldwin. “We look forward to soon seeing our fans in Loudoun County.”
All fans who purchased tickets for the match will be refunded.
