Boyds, Md., (8/5/19) – Washington Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe remains one of the most dominant shot-stoppers in the NWSL.
Her four-save effort against the North Carolina Courage this weekend was highlighted by a diving stop in the 31st minute that earned her yet another nomination for the NWSL Save of the Week award.
Bledsoe has already won the award four times in 14 games this season, and her latest nomination is no less impressive than her usual high standard. After Courage defender Jaelene Hinkle sent a cross into the box, midfielder Debinha directed a header off the far post.
Bledsoe could have been caught out of position by the post deflection, but she remained square with the ball as North Carolina forward Kristen Hamilton collected the rebound. Hamilton faked a shot to put Bledsoe on the ground, but Bledsoe reacted instantly to make a diving stop on Hamilton’s subsequent attempt.

Bledsoe continues to lead the NWSL with 55 saves on the year and is tied for the lead in clean sheets with six. She now looks to add another Save of the Week award to her list of accolades.
Fans can vote for the award via the NWSL’s social media channels until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Bledsoe and the Spirit will be back in action at the Maryland SoccerPlex this Saturday, August 10, against the Chicago Red Stars. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. [TICKETS]
