Boyds, Md. (5/21/19) – Washington Spirit Midfielder Jordan DiBiasi has won the NWSL Goal of the Week honor for her Olimpico goal against the Portland Thorns last weekend.
DiBiasi won the award after a fan vote elected her strike the best from around the NWSL for matchweek 6. It is the rookie’s first NWSL award nomination and first NWSL award win.
DiBiasi took a corner kick from the left side in the 71st minute, hitting an in-swinging ball towards the goal while Spirit forward Cheyna Matthews screened Portland keeper Britt Eckerstrom. The ball bent inside towards the net before curving just under the bar and just over Eckerstrom for the Spirit’s third goal of the night, securing the Spirit’s win over Portland.

DiBiasi has found the back of the net in the Spirit’s last games, both wins in which the Spirit scored three goals.
