Skurcenski joined the club as a short-term injury replacement in January
Washington, D.C. (08/11/2026) – The Washington Spirit and defender Molly Skurcenski have agreed to a mutual contract termination, the club announced today. Skurcenski joined the club as a rookie during preseason camp in January.
“Molly played a vital role in training across the past seven months, helping this team get better every day,” said Sporting Director James Hocken. “She has demonstrated unwavering professionalism and we wish her well in the next step of her professional career.”
Prior to turning pro, Skurcenski played four seasons at Texas Tech. Across 84 appearances for the Red Raiders, she played over 6,000 minutes and collected two goals and 11 assists. Skurcenski capped off her collegiate career with a Second Team All-Big XII selection in 2025.
The Spirit will take the pitch at Audi Field next on Sunday, August 23 when the side hosts the Orlando Pride. Kicking off at 4 p.m. EDT, the match will be Washington’s annual Pride night. Tickets are available at WashingtonSpirit.com/tickets.
