Arsenal Women come to DC for its first-ever US tour
Washington, D.C. (08/13/2024) – This Sunday, the Washington Spirit hosts the first of two Washington Spirit International Friendlies, featuring English powerhouses Arsenal and Chelsea. Over the next two weekends, the Spirit will turn into the global hub of women’s soccer as it plays host to three of the top teams in the world.
Sunday’s match against Arsenal, kicking off at 2 p.m. EDT, will mark the Spirit’s return to Audi Field for the first time since June. Fans will have a chance to welcome back the Spirit and potentially witness the debuts of heralded signees Esme Morgan, Rosemonde Kouassi, and Leicy Santos.
Arsenal, the most storied English women’s soccer club, is coming to DC on its first US tour and will bring talent that fans don’t want to miss. Fans will have the chance to see world-renowned players such as Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, and Beth Mead on the pitch at Audi Field.
Before the match, just outside the gates, Sandlot Bar will open for fans and will be enhanced by performer Ebb King. This local DJ known for serving up beats at venues across the District will pair perfectly with the energy at Sandlot Bar.
Upon entering the gates at Audi Field, custom matchday posters highlighting both Spirit and Arsenal players will be handed out to fans. Additionally, matchday programs with unique content, including a letter from Esme Morgan, will be available to pick up.
A hair braider will be one of the highlights of the concourse experience, giving fans the chance to replicate Spirit star and Olympic Gold Medalist Trinity Rodman’s signature hairstyle. On the Spirit Stage just inside Gate A, DJ Kidd Fresh will accompany a performance from a group of soccer freestylers. On the East Concourse, Spiritville returns with a soft play area for kids, meet-and-greet opportunities with PK, EAFC stations, face painters, caricature artists, and more. ESPN 630 AM will also table, offering an exclusive Spirit giveaway.

Just before kickoff, fans will hear renditions of both the United States anthem, sung by Gabrielle Cowgill, and the English National anthem. Events DC CEO, Angie Gates, will serve as the honorary captain of the match. Events DC, the premier host of conventions, sports, entertainment, and cultural events in DC, is a proud partner in supporting the inaugural Spirit International Friendlies.

Earlier this season, the Spirit broke its all-time home attendance record when 19,897 fans were on hand to witness the team’s electrifying match against San Diego.
Guest Services
Introduced last season for the first time at Audi Field, the Washington Spirit, in partnership with D.C. United, installed a Mamava nursing pod for parents near Guest Services inside Gate A. The private, sanitary space provides comfortable seating and power outlets for pumping equipment. Keyless entry and vacancy alerts are available by downloading the Mamava app.
Fans can communicate with Audi Field officials via text with any questions, concerns or emergencies at the following number: 202-918-3838. All ticketed fans will also receive a post-match survey following each game to allow the club to offer continual improvements on the matchday experience.
Parking will be made available for guests at the GEICO Parking Garage on 1500 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, D.C, 20003. The garage will open at 12 p.m. and will close approximately one hour after the event. There will be 600 spaces available on a first come, first serve basis and will cost guests $50. No tailgating will be allowed, and only credit/debit is accepted.
Fans are encouraged to use public transportation on matchday, disembarking at either the Navy Yard-Ballpark or Waterfront Metrorail Stations. The Navy Yard Station has more capacity and is located just one stop away on the Green Line from the Anacostia Metrorail Station where parking is also available. Fans can also use the ADA shuttle that runs from Navy Yard Metro to Audi Field starting pregame and running through postgame.
