NWSL Announces Broadcast Talent And VIP Guests For 2021 NWSL Draft Featured Image

Chicago, IL – Thursday January 10, 2019: The 2019 NWSL College Draft at McCormick Place.

Media credential application now available for 2021 NWSL Draft virtual mixed zone

CHICAGO (January 8, 2021) – The National Women’s Soccer League today announced the broadcast talent for the 2021 NWSL Draft which will stream live exclusively on the NWSL’s Twitch channel here. Host Marisa Pilla, analyst Lori Lindsey, analyst Jen Cooper and reporter Jordan Angeli are back to call the draft live from VISTA Worldlink in Dania Beach, FL, providing fans with the latest news, information and insight on each selection. The talent will also be joined live virtually by the draft picks, NWSL team executives and special guests.

The 2021 draft broadcast will also include special appearances from WNBA players such as the 2016 WNBA first overall pick Breanna Stewart and Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale, WTA tour members, Olympic gold medalist and sports commentator Summer Sanders, and more.

Marisa Pilla is a sports broadcaster based out of Philadelphia with multiple years of experience covering both men’s and women’s professional soccer. She most recently served as host of the 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft and was the only on-site talent and sideline reporter for the NWSL Challenge Cup on CBS and the NWSL Fall Series. This will be Marisa’s fourth time hosting the draft. Marisa has also covered MLS as a sideline reporter for FS1 and has served as the pregame/postgame show host for the Philadelphia Union. 

Lori Lindsey is a former U.S. women’s national team player whose professional playing career spanned 13 years. Lindsey is one of only four players to have played in all three of the U.S. professional women’s soccer leagues. She now works in broadcast, calling soccer games for the NWSL for the last three seasons, including most recently, the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup that took place in Utah in June and July and the 2020 NWSL Fall Series. Lindsey serves as an analyst for Nashville SC and LAFC in MLS, as well as during various USL games, and ACC and SEC games. Lindsey also travels the globe speaking, raising awareness and advocating for women’s equality and the LGBTQ community.

Jen Cooper is the host of The Mixxed Zone, a weekly women’s soccer podcast hosted by The Beautiful Game Network and has served as color commentator for NWSL stream broadcasts. She was also the editorial director for the NWSL Game of the Week for the last four seasons and has served as an analyst for the NWSL College Draft since 2016. She was a member of the Fox Sports research team for both the 2019 Women’s World Cup and the 2018 World Cup.

Jordan Angeli is back for her fourth NWSL Draft. She is a former NWSL player who spent two seasons in the league and represented the United States at the U-20 Women’s World Cup. She has been working in broadcasting for eight years and is the current TV analyst for the Columbus Crew in MLS. She has also called games for the NWSL and USL along with PAC-12, SEC, WAC, and ACC matches. She is the founder of THE ACL CLUB, helping athletes through the mental and emotional side of ACL recovery, and hosts the podcast “Show Your Scars” in which she interviews athletes about injury recovery. 

The league is now accepting media credential requests for the 2021 NWSL Draft. The NWSL communications staff will host a virtual mixed zone during the broadcast providing media access to draft picks and team executives.
