Boyds, Md., (12/10/19) – Washington Spirit CEO Larry Best was one of eight esteemed individuals to be selected for induction into the Virginia-D.C. Soccer Hall of Fame. Best was inducted for his countless years of meritorious service towards growing the game in the area.
Best joined the Spirit almost one year ago, taking the role of CEO in January of 2019. Since then, Best has facilitated the growth of the game by creating the Alliance Development Program, a platform for change that brings the Youth Club community together in support of the Sport and Game for Girls and Womens Soccer.
Additonally, Best established the Spirit Training Centers and Advanced Development Program, which are designed to show young players how to train and play like a pro with guidance from the Spirit Pro Team players and staff.
Best had this to say on the honor of being inducted: “It’s an incredible honor and I would like to thank everyone who has been part of helping me achieve this wonderful award. Surrounding yourself with good people makes achievements like this possible.
Best continued, “I have been incredibly fortunate to have been mentored, supported, and guided in the right direction by many over the years. Special thanks to every player who has made this achievement possible.”
The Virginia DC Soccer Hall of Fame was started in 2001 and was established to honor and preserve the legacies of soccer heroes with ties to Virginia and Washington, D.C.
The official induction ceremony for the Class of 2020 will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the VYSA Awards Gala.
