Boyds, MD (May 22, 2018) – The Washington Spirit are coming off short rest on Wednesday night to close out a two-game homestand against Sky Blue FC at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with a live stream available on go90 as well as the NWSL site and mobile app. Tickets for the game start as low as $20 for General Admission seating. [TICKETS]

Wednesday will be the first of three matchups between Washington and Sky Blue FC during the 2018 NWSL regular season, and the first of two games between the sides that will be hosted at Maureen Hendricks Field.

Washington is coming off a narrow 1-0 loss against visiting Portland Thorns FC on Saturday. Washington’s offense, led by Francisca Ordega (3 goals) and Mallory Pugh (2 goals, 1 assist), will look to end the team’s three-game goalless streak. The pair has tallied five of the Spirit’s seven goals this season, and four of the club’s five goals scored at home.

Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe continues to lead the NWSL with 41 saves, eight games into the season. Defenders Caprice Dydasco, Whitney Church and Taylor Smith have each started all eight games on the Spirit back line, and will again play a key factor in stopping Sky Blue FC’s offense. Church played the maximum 720 minutes at her center back position, while Dydasco leads the NWSL with 90 touches per 90 minutes.

Washington’s defense will look to slow down Sky Blue’s leading scorers Katlyn Johnson and U.S. international Savannah McCaskill, along with the rest of the Sky Blue FC offense, including U.S international Carli Lloyd. Johnson and McCaskill have both recorded two goals, accounting for four of the club’s five goals on the season. McCaskill, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft, has tallied both of her goals on the road.

The Spirit will look to snap their six-game winless streak, while Sky Blue FC looks to get their first win of the 2018 season. Sky Blue FC comes to the Maryland SoccerPlex after a close 2-1 loss against the undefeated North Carolina Courage on Saturday night.

Following Wednesday’s match, Washington will travel to Texas for a Sunday evening matchup against the Houston Dash at BBVA Compass Stadium. The Spirit will return to the Maryland SoccerPlex for their next home game on Saturday, June 2 to host the Chicago Red Stars. [TICKETS]
