Washington, D.C., (12/22/2021) – The Washington Spirit have re-signed midfielder Taylor Aylmer to a new one-year contract with a club option for 2023, the club announced today.

Aylmer was a midseason addition for the Spirit in July 2021, appearing in ten games including two starts during her first campaign with the club. A graduate of Rutgers University, Aylmer led the Scarlet Knights as a captain in her junior and senior seasons and recorded four goals and 17 assists in 85 match appearances throughout her four years.

Spirit Head Coach Kris Ward on the renewal: “Taylor was a key piece of our midfield, especially in the second half of the 2021 season. Coming in as a national team replacement player can be very challenging, but she did an amazing job and we look forward to continuing to build this great team with her.”

Originally from Garnerville, New York, Aylmer attended North Rockland High School and was named to the all-league and all-state teams following her senior season in 2015. In addition to competing for her school, Aylmer was a member of World Class Elite Clubs National League.

“We are very happy to re-sign Taylor,” Spirit President Ben Olsen said. “She is a key part of this squad and we’re excited to see her continued development in 2022.”
