Philadelphia, PA – Thursday January 18, 2018: Washington Spirit during the 2018 NWSL College Draft at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Boyds, Md. (Feb. 14, 2019) – The Washington Spirit has signed Amy Harrison and agreed to loan terms with Chloe Logarzo from Sydney FC ahead of the 2019 NWSL season, pending completion of international paperwork. Per league and team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

“Adding two quality players of proven International pedigree like Chloe and Amy is huge for our club,” said Spirit head coach Richie Burke. “Having spoken to both players regularly during this process, I know they are very excited to join us here in Washington – and I believe they will make a huge impact with our team and in our league.”

Since beginning her career with Sydney FC in 2012, Logarzo has gone on to play in Sweden, Norway, and the United States. She returned to Sydney FC at the beginning of the 2018 season and helped steer the club to the 2018 Westfield W-League Grand Final, while earning club Player of the Year honors.

During the current W-League campaign, Logarzo has started every game and scored three goals through Sydney FC’s run to the 2019 Grand Final.

On the international stage, Logarzo has earned 29 caps with the Australian Women’s National Team and netted six goals. Her most recent goal came against the USA in a 1-1 draw in the 2018 Tournament of Nations.

Harrison started with Sydney FC at age 16, making her debut in the W-League during the 2013 season. Her breakout performances and immediate impact with the club earned her the Westfield W-League Young Player of the Year award during the 2014 campaign.

After missing a large portion of the 2018 season due to injury, the 22-year old has bounced back in 2019, making nine starts out of 10 appearances for the Sky Blues this season and tallying 799 total minutes. Harrison has earned eight senior national team appearances for Australia.

Logarzo and Harrison will take the field alongside fellow Spirit and Sydney FC teammate Aubrey Bledsoe as they face Perth Glory FC in the W-League Grand Final, Saturday, Feb. 16 at 12:30 a.m. ET.

“It’s not an accident that their Sydney FC team is in the W-League finals this weekend, both players are serial winners and I know they’ll bring that mentality to our club,” Burke said. “I’m absolutely thrilled to have both Matildas’ players at Washington Spirit this season.”

Washington’s 2019 preseason schedule was announced earlier this week. The Spirit will open the preseason on Saturday, March 16 against James Madison University at City Stadium in Richmond, Va.
