Boyds, MD (June 28, 2017) – The Washington Spirit has waived forward Katie Stengel and midfielder Cameron Castleberry.

Stengel came to the Spirit ahead of the 2016 NWSL season and tied for second on the team with four goals during the regular season. She played in 19 matches and made 10 starts in the regular season, also tallying an assist, and appeared in both postseason game for the Spirit including the 2016 NWSL Championship against Western New York.  

Washington drafted Castleberry with the No. 36 overall pick out of the University of North Carolina in the 2017 NWSL College Draft. The former U.S. U-20 National Team pool player appeared in two games this season for Washington, recording 26 minutes.

The Spirit will travel to the Northeast this weekend to visit the Boston Breakers on Saturday afternoon at Jordan Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET. The live stream will be available on the go90 and NWSL mobile apps and websites.
