Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC

Katie Stengel and the Western Sydney Wanderers faced off against Franny Ordega and Sydney FC in a Sydney Derby on Friday, December 30. Stengel, who has been on goal-scoring fire recently, put the Wanderers up early, but it was not enough for them to overcome their crosstown rivals. Sydney FC stormed back with two goals to take the 2-1 win. Both Stengel and Ordega started for their respective teams. (Match Report)

 

Sydney FC vs Canberra United

In the team’s first match of the new year, Sydney FC built on the momentum from its win over the Wanderers and notched a 6-1 win over Canberra United on Tuesday, January 3. Ordega, who earned her second start for Sydney, scored her first W-League goal in the 67th minute to help her team to victory. Sydney FC currently sits in first place in the W-League standings, four points clear of second place Perth Glory. The squad will take on defending champions Melbourne City FC this weekend which will be shown on ESPN3 in the U.S. (Match Report)
