The Spirit claimed Morgan Proffitt off NWSL Waivers on August 22, 2017.

International: Since 2016, Proffitt has been included on multiple U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team rosters. After attending training camp with the team in April 2016, she was among 20 players selected by head coach Janet Rayfield for the Nordic Tournament in England last summer, and helped the U.S. win the international event. Proffitt was called into U-23 camp again in early 2017 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif.

Professional: While still in the college, Proffitt played two seasons (2015 and 2016) with the Chicago Red Stars Reserves at Women’s Premier Soccer League.  In 2015, she was part of the team that claimed the WPSL title. In the 2017 NWSL College Draft, the Chicago Red Stars picked Proffitt and she became the 12th overall pick.

College: Played 85 games and scored 10 goals for Marquette University. She earned several honors, including nominations for the BIG EAST All-Academic Team three season in a row (2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16), MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List in 2016. In the same year, Proffitt was elected BIG EAST Conference Player of the Year.
