Canberra United won their semi-final match to advance to the grand final of the W-League! They fought a hard fought battle against Melbourne Victory which was finally decided on penalty kicks: Canberra 5 to Melbourne 4. Canberra’s goalkeeper Chantel Jones made an impressive save, and Lori Lindsey converted her penalty kick. Christine Nairn and Lisa De Vanna played for the Victory. Lindsey and Canberra United play in the grand final against Perth Glory next weekend. Game Recap.


The USWNT started their 2014 International Tournament of Brasilia quest on Wednesday December 10th against China PR with a 1-1 draw. Ali Krieger started for the US. Crystal Dunn was an available sub. The US opened scoring in the 23rd minute when Carli Lloyd found the back of the net. China’s Hang Peng equalized in the 67th minute. The USWNT’s second match of the tournament was against Brazil on Sunday December 14th. They lost 3-2. Krieger came on in the 31st minute replacing Lori Chalupny. Dunn again was an available sub. 1. FFC Frankfurt defeated MSV Duisburg 4 goals to Duisburg’s none. Kerstin Garefrekes scored Frankfurt’s second goal in the 35th minute. The Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga now takes a break until February. 1. FFC Frankfurt is currently in 4th place in the league. Match Recap.
