Standout defender and midfielder to join USWNT for away friendlies against England, Netherlands
Washington, D.C. (11/18/2024) – Defender Casey Krueger and midfielder Hal Hershfelt have been called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) for the side’s upcoming friendlies, U.S. Soccer announced today.
Both Krueger and Hershfelt were part of the USWNT’s 2024 Olympic team that won gold in Paris. Krueger won her second Olympic medal with the team after taking bronze in Tokyo in 2021, while Hershfelt served as an alternate, training with the team throughout the tournament. Krueger enters the November/December camp with 59 appearances and six assists for the senior team while Hershfelt recently made her first appearance for the side. The rookie midfielder made her international debut during October 24’s match against Iceland in Austin, Texas.
The USWNT’s November/December Friendly Schedule:
• vs England | Saturday, November 30 at 12:20 p.m. EST (Wembley Stadium, London)
• vs Netherlands | Tuesday, December 3 at 3:45 p.m. EST (ADO Den Haag Stadium, The Hague)
The Spirit will take the field for the final time this year on Saturday night in the 2024 NWSL Championship. The team won back-to-back thrillers in front of sellout crowds at Audi Field, taking down Bay FC after extra time and knocking off defending champion NJ/NY Gotham FC in penalty kicks to earn a berth in this season’s title match. Kicking off at 8 p.m. EST on CBS, the Spirit will face the top-seeded Orlando Pride.
