Washington, D.C. (08/12/2022) – Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman has been named a finalist for the 2022 Ballon d’Or Féminin, France Football announced today.

Rodman is nominated alongside 19 other women across the world for the prestigious annual award. At 20 years old, Rodman is the youngest player on the shortlist. The Ballon d’Or is awarded by France Football in quarter four of each year to honor the best men’s and women’s footballers of the season. Rodman is the Washington Spirit’s second all-time nominee for the honor as Rose Lavelle came in eighth for the 2019 Ballon d’Or Féminin.

Since returning from international duty with the U.S. Women’s National Team, Rodman has netted two goals, doubling her season total. Both scores came in a high-scoring thriller against the North Carolina Courage on July 29 and would prove crucial in helping the Spirit come away with a point on the road in the 3-3 draw. Rodman has been one of the focal points of a talented Spirit attacking third since entering the league in 2021 and is currently on pace to set a new career high for goals in a single season this year.

Washington will take the field next on Saturday, August 27 in Houston as the Spirit meet the Dash for the first time this season. Following a 17-day break in play, the Spirit will be well-rested for its trip to Texas as it kicks off the final stretch of the regular season.

Fans can secure their tickets to the Spirit’s final three home matches of the regular season at Audi Field with the new season ticket megapack. Available here, the megapack provides fans with the full benefits of a season ticket member for the defending champs’ final home matches of 2022.
