BOYDS, Md (Mar. 31, 2016) – The Washington Spirit announced today that the club has waived forward Tiffany Weimer.
“We appreciate all the hard work Tiffany has put in to get back to 100%,” said Spirit general manager and head coach Jim Gabarra. “Our competition for roster spots has been very high and our decisions are difficult. We thank Tiff for her contributions to the club and wish her good luck.”
Weimer came to the Spirit as a trade from the Portland Thorns ahead of the 2014 season. She injured her knee during 2014 preseason which sidelined her for the season. In 2015, Weimer played in four games for the Spirit while still recovering from her injury. A standout at Penn State University from 2002-05, she scored 91 goals in 97 games during her four-year career with the Nittany Lions.
The Washington Spirit will begin its 2016 season on Saturday, April 16 at Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex at 7:00 pm against the Boston Breakers. Be a part of the NWSL soccer experience by calling 301-337-8579 or visiting our website.
