Washington, D.C., (12/22/2021) – The Washington Spirit have re-signed defender/midfielder Morgan Goff to a new one-year contract with a club option for 2023, the club announced today.

Goff was a midseason addition for the Spirit in July 2021. In four seasons competing for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Goff appeared in 101 matches, recording almost 5,000 minutes of action. Playing mostly on the defensive side of the field, Goff tallied four goals and four assists in her Chapel Hill career.

Spirit Head Coach Kris Ward on the renewal: “Morgan is a true professional in every sense of the word and we are excited to continue on this journey with her. We look forward to what will surely be a great season in 2022 with her as a part of this squad.”

Originally from Dunn, North Carolina, Goff captained her Elite Clubs National League team for four years, twice being named to the ECNL player development program. Representing Triton High School in addition to her club team, Goff set school records for goals in a game (eight) and season (52) as a sophomore in 2013.

The decision to re-sign Morgan aligns with our focus on continuing to maintain our current roster,” Spirit President Ben Olsen said. “She is a key part of this team and we look forward to her continued growth next season.”
