Leesburg, VA., (05/06/21) – The Washington Spirit have signed defender Camryn Biegalski to a one-year contract with a one-year option. Biegalski signed a National Team Replacement Contract on April 8th.

Spirit Head Coach Richie Burke had this to say about the signing: “Camryn came highly recommended by both Rory Dames and Scott Parkinson from Chicago, and she certainly didn’t disappoint. She’s proven to be a good addition to our squad and her versatility will be an important factor when we lose players during the Olympic window. During the few weeks she’s been at our club she’s been absolutely great to work with and I hope she continues to grow as a player with the Spirit.”

Biegalski, a defender from Lombard, Illinois, was drafted by the Chicago Red Stars in the 2020 NWSL Draft. In the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup Presented by Secret, Biegalski appeared in three out of four matches for the Spirit and recorded 47 minutes of play. She appeared in three games for the Red Stars during the 2020 Fall Series, where she had a 70 percent passing rate and completed 75 percent of her tackles successfully. Biegalski will wear number 30 for the Spirit.

Spirit Chief Soccer Officer and President of Sporting Operations Larry Best had this to say about Biegalski: “We officially welcome Camryn to the Spirit Family and congratulate her on the transition from a National Team Replacement Player status to earning a senior roster spot.  Her performance in training and the Challenge Cup allowed us to evaluate and monitor her closely and we decided that she deserves the opportunity to play in the NWSL.”
