Boyds, MD., (3/9/20) – The Washington Spirit have signed goalkeeper Devon Kerr. Kerr will join the Spirit on a two-year deal, with a club option for a third year.
Kerr is the third keeper to be named to the Spirit’s roster as she joins rookie Katie Lund, who was signed on February 10, and 2019 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year Aubrey Bledsoe.
Kerr most recently played with FC Metz in the Division 1 Féminine, the top-flight women’s league in France. Kerr also offers NWSL experience. The keeper joined the Dash as a non-roster invitee for their 2019 preseason and was subsequently signed in April 2019. After spending the season in Houston, Kerr was waived on January 7, 2020 and was signed by Metz the next day.
Internationally, Kerr played for the Canadian U-17s in 2014, but has since appeared for the United States, joining the United States Youth National Team at the U-19, U-20 U-23 levels. Kerr last joined the USYNT U-23s in 2018.
Collegiately, Kerr played at Ohio State for four seasons. During her time as a Buckeye, Kerr accumulated a wide array of accolades, including being named First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year during her senior campaign in 2018. Additionally, Kerr was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team in 2017 and 2018, and was named to the All-Freshman Team in 2015.
In total, Kerr played in 63 games for Ohio State, making 207 saves. Kerr also finished with 19 career shutouts, the third most of any Buckeye in school history.
