BOYDS, Md. (Aug 24, 2016) – Washington Spirit forward and reigning NWSL Player of the Month for July Estefania Banini underwent successful left knee arthroscopy on Wednesday, August 24th and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Banini missed the Spirit’s last match in Houston due to pain in the knee and will begin rehabilitation immediately.

The Argentinian international has played in 12 matches this season for the Spirit. In that time she has scored five goals and notched one assist. She was also awarded NWSL Goal of the Week and Player of the Week for Week 13 in addition to NWSL Player of the Month for July.

The first place Spirit will look to extend its 3-point lead atop the NWSL standings against Orlando Pride on Friday, August 26th (7:30 p.m. – NWSL YouTube Channel).
