Boyds, MD – Saturday September 23, 2017: Denise Reddy prior to a regular season National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match between the Washington Spirit and the Boston Breakers at Maureen Hendricks Field, Maryland SoccerPlex.

Boyds, MD (November 15, 2017)Washington Spirit assistant coach Denise Reddy will depart the club to accept a new position as head coach of Sky Blue FC.

Reddy has spent the past two seasons with the Spirit, and helped the team reach the 2016 NWSL Championship in her first year. She also served as the first ever technical director of the Spirit Academy – Baltimore Armour U.S. Soccer Girls’ Development Academy program.

“When Denise came to the Spirit, we were all aware of and supported her ambition to become a head coach in the NWSL,” said Spirit head coach and general manager Jim Gabarra. “She has been a tremendous resource for our club the past two seasons and instrumental to our success. This is a great opportunity for her, and we wish her the best of luck with Sky Blue.”

Reddy, a New Jersey native and Rutgers University graduate, will become Sky Blue FC’s third head coach since the inaugural 2013 NWSL season.

Washington has begun its search for a new first assistant coach and Spirit Academy – Baltimore Armour technical director.
