Joanna Lohman is taking it easy this offseason. Not really doing much.

Just kidding! “Taking it easy” isn’t in Jo’s vocabulary. Today, the Silver Spring, MD native is heading off on an adventure to Botswana as a sports envoy for the Department of State. In association with U.S. Embassy, the Ambassador, UNICEF, International Working Group on Women and Sport, and the Botswana Ministry of Youth, she will run soccer programs to empower girls through sport. She will also be attending the Marine Ball in Gaborone as a guest of the U.S. Ambassador.

Jo will also be taking her “Find Your Cool” platform with her to Africa to inspire the girls she works with. “‘Find Your Cool’ means knowing who you are in the deepest of your core: being absolutely comfortable and unapologetically proud,” said the undeniable “Find Your Cool” expert.

Always the explorer, Lohman will then go on a week long safari with a stop over in Zimbabwe to see Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world.

“All in all, it will be an incredible opportunity for me to share my passion for the sport, promote gender equality, and grow the game,” said the 34 year old.
