Boyds, MD. – Saturday, June 16 2018: The Washington Spirit and the Seattle Reign tied 0-0 in a NWSL match at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

BOYDS, MD (June 19, 2018) – The Washington Spirit has waived midfielder Morgan Proffitt.

In her second NWSL season, Proffitt has played in four games, including two starts, compiling 197 minutes of playing time.

Proffitt was initially claimed off waivers by the Spirit in August 2017 and made three appearances for the club as a rookie, totalling 255 minutes. She was selected by the Chicago Red Stars in the 2017 NWSL College Draft out of Marquette University, and appeared in one game with the Red Stars before joining the Spirit.

The Columbus, Ind. native is a former member of the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team, receiving roster call-ups in 2016 and 2017. She scored 10 goals in 85 games during her college career at Marquette, and was named the 2016 Big East Conference Player of the Year.
