BOYDS, MD (June 14, 2017) – The Washington Spirit has signed defender Caprice Dydasco to a new contract. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Spirit selected Dydasco with the 19th overall pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft. Dydasco was a four-year starter as a defender for the UCLA Bruins from 2011- 2014. She appeared in 94 games and scored five goals and had 23 assists. She was a member of UCLA’s national championship team in 2013.

She played in six matches for the Spirit in 2015. In 2016, Dydasco started in 12 regular season and both post season matches for the Spirit. She recorded two assists one on July 31 against Sky Blue FC and one on August 26 against Orlando Pride, both to forward Cheyna Williams.

In the 2016 NWSL Championship match Dydasco tore her left ACL, which has kept her out for the start of the 2017 season. She has since made a full recovery and was cleared to return to game action last week by the Spirit medical staff.

Washington travels to the Midwest for its next game to face the Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week on Saturday, June 17 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
