CHICAGO (August 4, 2015) – Washington Spirit forward Crystal Dunn was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 16 of the 2015 NWSL season. (Watch Highlights)

Dunn, 22, scored all three goals for the Spirit, recording a first half hat trick at home, to get a 3-1 win over the Houston Dash on Saturday night at Maureen Hendricks Field Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.

The New York native’s first goal came at the 28th minute of the game, as Dunn was able to get past two Dash defenders and get a ball past Houston goalkeeper Erin McLeod, who would leave the game due to injury. Dunn would find the back of the net once again in the 36th minute as she received the ball from teammate Diana Matheson.

Dunn would end her scoring run right before the end of the first half in stoppage time as she headed the ball into the goal from a corner taken by teammate Christine Nairn, ending the half with a score of 3-0.

The former Tar Heel is the third Spirit player to be honored as the NWSL Player of the Week. She is the first NWSL player to receive the award four times in a season, when she was honored with the award in Weeks 3, 8 and 11.

The Washington Spirit will return to action on Saturday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET against the Boston Breakers at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium in Boston.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
