Boyds, MD (March 21, 2018) – The Washington Spirit has claimed forward Tiffany Weimer off waivers.

Weimer returns to Washington having first played for the Spirit from 2014-2015. She made 17 NWSL appearances in 2017 with the Boston Breakers, recording one assist. In 2016, the Penn State alum scored five goals in 10 games for Swedish club Kvarnsvedens IK.

During the 2017-2018 offseason, Washington selected Weimer with the No. 20 overall pick in the NWSL Dispersal Draft on January 30, before trading her to the Houston Dash in February in exchange for Houston’s natural fourth round pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft.

After the Dash recently placed Weimer on waivers, Washington has picked up the forward’s NWSL rights and she is expected to join the club  next week.

Washington will travel to the West Coast for a match-up with Seattle Reign FC on March 24, in the club’s NWSL regular season opener. Kickoff in Seattle is set for 10 p.m. ET.

Single game tickets for the Spirit’s regular season home games, including their March 31 home opener against the Orlando Pride, are available now at Tickets.WashingtonSpirit.com or by calling the club’s ticket office at 301-591-0927.
