Boyds, MD (July 13, 2017) – Washington Spirit forward Francisca Ordega has been placed on the 45-day disabled list due to a chondral defect on her right knee.

Ordega will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury and is expected to make a full recovery.

“Franny has had a great first half of the season,” said Spirit head coach and general manager Jim Gabarra. “She has made great strides and improvements in her game. We all feel as bad as she feels but know she will be back.”

The 23-year-old Nigeria Women’s National Team forward is Washington’s leading scorer this season with four goals, to go along with her team-high three assists.

Washington begins a four-game road stint this Saturday, July 15 against the Houston Dash. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET at BBVA Compass Stadium with a live stream available on the go90 mobile app and website.
