BOYDS, Md. (Sept. 25, 2013) – The Washington Spirit announced today the club has loaned forward Tiffany McCarty to Albirex Niigata Ladies of the Japan Football League.

“I am beyond excited to play in the Nadeshiko League with Niigata. I think this experience will help me with my player development both on and off the field and I am looking forward to playing in Japan,” McCarty said.

McCarty, 22, scored two goals in 21 appearances (twelve starts) for the Spirit during the 2013 campaign in her first professional season after graduating from Florida State University.

“We are excited Tiffany has earned this opportunity to play on loan in Japan,” Washington coach Mark Parsons said. “The league there is very technical and will provide a great environment for Tiff to continue her development and offer Albirex Niigata quality in front of goal.”

McCarty, a Laurel, Md. native, has already traveled to Japan in preparation to join Niigata, which is currently in seventh place in the country’s top flight.
