NATIONAL TEAM NEWS

USWNT

The USWNT opened the Algarve Cup with a win over Norway 2-1. Ali Krieger, who played the entire match, had an especially notable save in the 4th minute when the ball went behind goalkeeper Hope Solo, and Krieger kept it out of the net. The US team went on to beat Switzerland 3-0 in its second match to move into first place in the group. Ali Krieger started for the USA. In the team’s third group game, the USA tied Iceland 0-0. Ashlyn Harris and Crystal Dunn were available subs for all three games. The USA will face France in the Championship game on Wednesday March 11th.

Mex WNT

The Mex WNT beat South Africa 2-0 in its first game of the Cyprus Women’s Cup. Ari Romero was a starter. The team followed that up with another win, this time against the Czech Republic with a 1-0 score. Veronica Perez played for Mexico. Both Veronica Perez and Ari Romero started in Mexico’s tie with Belgium 0-0 in its third game of the tournament. The Mex WNT will play Italy in the 3rd place match on Wednesday March 11th.
