Impact Partners

We at the Washington Spirit realize the importance of being actively involved in the community where we live, work, and play. Our goal is to make an impact both on and off the soccer field and inspire positive change within our community. Through our community and corporate partnerships, we aim to have a meaningful and long-lasting impact in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and beyond.

DC Scores

DC SCORES serves more than 3,000 young people at over 60 elementary and middle schools across the District of Columbia through soccer, poetry, and service-learning programs. These after-school programs build teams of poet-athletes, young people who are committed to their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Poet-athletes use their voices to express themselves, serve as leaders in their communities, and speak up against injustice.

Leveling the Playing Field

LPF is a DC based organization that works to redistribute equipment to expand access and equity within youth sports and recreation programs in under-resourced communities. Through the Washington Coalition of Women’s Sports, we work with LPF to collect sports bras to disperse throughout the larger DC Community. Girls drop out of sports at twice the rate that boys do, with the most significant decline around puberty. The steep price of Sports Bras can be a major barrier to entry for girls in sports in the same way the price all other sporting equipment is. Providing sports bras that fit can allow girls to continue to play confidently and without the pain or discomfort an ill-fitting or no sports bra can cause.

MSYSA Let's Play!

The MYSYSA Let’s Play! program is a safe, inclusive, co-ed, after-school program serving thousands of children in Title 1 Elementary Schools across 4 school districts in historically under-served and under-resourced communities around Maryland and D.C. This character-building and community-supported outreach program is completely free to each participating child and is creating opportunities, improving access, and reducing barriers to participation in the beautiful game. Let's Play! uses soccer as a platform to transform the lives of participants by teaching social and emotional skills while improving student health and well-being. Each child receives a free soccer ball, t-shirt, and a free pair of cleats to encourage them to continue their soccer learning journey all year long. Our hope is that we are able to grow the game, transform lives, strengthen communities, and show respect for all regardless of race, zip code, gender, or socio-economic status.
