PHILADELPHIA (January 18, 2018) – The Washington Spirit selected seven total players at Thursday’s NWSL College Draft in Philadelphia.

Washington’s selections included two first round picks: midfielder Andi Sullivan (No. 1 overall) from Stanford and forward Rebecca Quinn (No. 3 overall) from Duke.

After making two of the draft’s first three selections, the Spirit picked defender/forward Schuyler DeBree (No. 11 overall) from Duke and forward Mallory Eubanks (No. 16 overall) from Mississippi State in the second round; defender Brittany Basinger (No. 21 overall) from Penn State and midfielder Maddie Huster (No. 26 overall) from Wake Forest in the third round; and midfielder Rachel Moore (No. 31 overall) from William & Mary in the fourth round.

Sullivan, a Lorton, Va. native, led Stanford to the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship title during her senior season, and finished her decorated college career with 20 goals, 19 assists and eight game-winning goals. Earlier this month, she was awarded the 2017 Hermann Trophy, college soccer’s most prestigious individual honor. The 22-year-old has earned seven caps with the U.S. Women’s National Team over the past year.

Quinn, a Canadian international, has racked up 33 caps and scored three goals with the senior national team at the age of 22. She was a member of Canada’s 2016 Rio Olympics roster and helped the team earn a bronze medal, matching their best all-time performance in the event. During her recently completed senior season at Duke, Quinn earned United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America honors and helped the Blue Devils advance to the NCAA semifinals.

DeBree, who also played an integral role in Duke’s run to the 2017 NCAA semifinals alongside Quinn, earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors during her senior season. She has earned U.S. Youth National Team call-ups at various levels throughout her career, including with the U-14, U-15, U-18, U-19 and U-20 squads.

Eubanks scored eight goals and assisted 17 during her four-year career at Mississippi State. She saw time with the U.S. U-19 Women’s National Team during 2016, and represented the U.S. U-23 squad at the Portland Thorns Invitational in 2017, where she earned starting nods in friendlies against NWSL sides Thorns FC, Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars.

Basinger finished her Penn State career ninth all-time in program history in minutes played (7,038). She anchored a Nittany Lions back line which recorded remarkable 13 shutouts in 2017, while also scoring a goal and assisting three more. She represented the U.S. at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the fall of 2012, the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2014, and she helped the U.S. U-20 National Team claim the 2014 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship. She also played on the U.S. U-23 side that brought home the 2016 Nordic Tournament title.

Huster is coming off a senior season at Wake Forest in which she started all 21 games as captain for the Demon Deacons. She scored 10 career goals and recorded eight assists while starting 71 of 75 total games at Wake Forest. The 2017 All-ACC Second Team selection returns to the Spirit organization after representing the club with the Spirit Reserves in the W-League. She is the younger sister of the Spirit midfielder Tori Huster.

Moore was named All-CAA First-Team for the second straight season as a senior at William & Mary in 2017. She saw action in all 20 games and made 19 starts, finishing the season with five goals and four assists. Over the course of her illustrious college career, Moore scored 20 goals and recorded 16 assists in 80 total games.
